October 2024 Successful Implementation of the Hydroponic Facility at the School Garden

We are excited to announce the completion of the hydroponic system at Pionierspark Primary School, a major milestone in our efforts to promote education and sustainability in communities with limited resources. By the fall of 2024, SEGENA e.V. had planned to provide students with access to fresh, healthy food through a state-of-the-art hydroponic facility. As of October 7th, 2024, we have successfully handed over this fully functional system, marking the official start of a new era for the school’s garden.

The hydroponic system, which now stands as the heart of the school garden, offers both students and teachers a hands-on opportunity to engage with sustainable agricultural practices. The first seedlings have already been planted and are well on their way to flourishing in the nutrient-rich, water-efficient system. We have provided comprehensive training to both students and teachers on how to manage and maintain the system, ensuring its long-term success and sustainability.

This project not only addresses immediate food security needs by providing fresh, healthy produce but also strengthens the self-sufficiency and resilience of the school and the wider community. SEGENA e.V. remains deeply committed to supporting such initiatives that create lasting impacts on education and local food systems.

We extend our sincere gratitude to all those who contributed to this project and invite the community to watch the continued growth of the school garden as it becomes a beacon of sustainable agriculture.

August 2024 The plan is to build a hydroponics facility by fall 2024.

A hydroponics facility will give students access to fresh and healthy food. With this project, SEGENA e.V. is once again demonstrating its commitment to promoting education and sustainability in communities with limited resources. The planned hydroponic facility will not only improve food security, but also help to strengthen the self-sufficiency and resilience of the school and its community in the long term.
